I started my own podcast four weeks ago. Since then, I've developed a silly obsession with constantly checking my numbers to see how many "listens" my podcast has thus far received.

Do you know how many listens your podcast has gotten? Does it interest or concern you?

Fun podcast, my memories of Hawaii go back to our honeymoon in 1995. Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, where we celebrated our 20th anniversary, had many of the same qualities.

You bought a $120,000 tiki because the salesman recognized your voice?! Better stay out of Rolls Royce dealerships (I'm assuming you don't have a couple of Rollses already). By the way, what is a tiki?

I love watching the local Honolulu newscasts... both for Joe Moore, and the great Aloha shirts that many of the reporters wear. Gotta love the Hawaii vibe. I watched a news clip yesterday where they were interviewing a guy who looked and sounded a lot like Tommy Chong. Turns out it was the top geophysicist at the Volcano Observatory.

Owing to my radio background, I always try to pronounce city and state names the way the locals pronounce them. So Nevada is "ne-VADD-a" to me, even though that makes no etymological sense. I pronounce Hawaii as "Hawai'i," with that full glottal stop. I was discussing the volcano eruption with a colleague yesterday, and she literally thought I had the hiccups.

There's a town in Iowa just east of Ames named "Nevada," but the locals pronounce it "Ne-VEH-da." Never understood why.
